                      ADAPTION

Cultural Adaption in Our eLearning Translation Services

Culture goes beyond language, encompassing imagery, context and symbolism. With our in-depth international expertise, we’ll help you leverage local values to support your training objectives.

You have two choices when it comes to culturalization. You can either make materials that are inherently neutral or adjust for different markets. One of these approaches might be better for your brand.

Your courses are made up of text, graphics, images, people and more; each of these components could have a significant impact on your ability to relay information and for the learner to effectively access it. Some of the most likely areas of difficulty when it comes to culturally sensitive materials include:

                      ADAPTION

The pictures, graphs and charts used in the presentation of materials

Icons and other images used for graphic support and branding; characters that are well known and loved in one region may not be known or enjoyed in another

Depictions of humans and animals may be objected to by some learners or cultures

Some cultures have strong built-in affinity for certain colors – and colors may have different meanings and connotations for different geographic and cultural areas.

Businesses may work differently in other regions, from the way roles are depicted to the people performing those roles.

Some cultures are far more inclusive than others when it comes to women’s roles and gender conformity

Cultures vary on how elders are depicted and respected

Use sparingly, because some cultures will not be aware of the same entertainment sources

May vary in different regions; one term may be acceptable in one location and inappropriate in another.

                                        Voiceover & AI Solutions

                                        Off-screen narration

                                        Off-screen narration

Off-screen narration is most popular in eLearning localization and is familiar to anyone who has seen a documentary – making it an accessible, powerful tool for eLearning presentation. Videos, tutorial software and PowerPoint presentations are all ideal candidates for off-camera narration.

                                        UN-Style recording

                                        UN-style recording

This narration is ideal for messages by one person on-screen, that is sharing expertise or sharing a message with the viewer, but in a different language. The viewer will still see expressions and body language and will be able to understand what is being said, too.

                                        Lip-syncing

                                        Lip-syncing

The most complex and expensive version of voiceover is lip-sync; in this setup, the actors on screen appear to be speaking matching lip movements, but in a different language, which is dubbed in later. Most often used in broadcasting, this is the most time consuming and costly – but impactful – method of adding voiceover.

                                        AI Voiceover

                                        AI Voiceover

AI voiceover is the use of artificial intelligence technology to generate human-like voices for various purposes such as audiobook narration, video voiceovers, and automated customer service. It is achieved by training machine learning models on large datasets of human speech to produce natural-sounding speech patterns. The benefits of AI voiceover include cost savings, time savings, consistency, flexibility, accessibility, scalability, and personalization.

                                        Frequently Asked Questions

eLearning continues to increase in popularity and its flexibility, easy accessibility and success rate also make it an ideal match for global training programs. Because eLearning can accomplish goals in micro-session environments (short but to-the-point sessions that convey a single concept or process), workers can successfully complete components in short periods of time, allowing them to easily make learning a regular part of their day.

Andovar has specialized in delivering professional eLearning translation services for over 15 years. We work with some of the biggest names in global business who return time and time again because of the consistent quality we produce. Our office set-up is unique in that it enables us to produce eLearning localization without outsourcing, which leads to greater project control and less risk. We are able to manage all voiceover, subtitles, integration and testing in-house.

Pricing varies depending on the course size, complexity, and languages required. The best way is to complete our quote form and upload your course files via the upload feature. If you would like a discussion first, reach out via our contact form or meeting link. If you would like for us to sign an NDA, no problem. Please send it. One of our experts will respond to you within the hour during business hours, or early the next business day when outside of hours. We will perform an analysis of the content, factor in any repeated content and produce a quotation based on the number of words and the amount of voiceover, integration and testing along with a detailed project schedule. Once you approve the quote, we commence the project.

                                              • Consider localization during the design phase: When translating from English, you can expect text length to expand by 20 - 30%. This can impact general screen layout as well as videos requiring localization.
                                              • Don't embed text in graphics: Doing so will make it more expensive and time consuming to localize.
                                              • Make the source materials available: It's always best to provide full project files to your eLearning localization partner. As well as providing a complete picture, faster, more accurate quoting can be achieved.
                                              • Keep language and cultural neutrality: Different countries have varied cultures and values. Creative or highly locale-specific content may be harder to adapt, and therefore more costly or time consuming to localize.
                                              • Finalize your course before localizing: Changing source content once the project has already started adds risk and complications to what is already a complex undertaking.
                                              • Consolidate recuring themes: Recuring elements such as 'next' and 'back' should be built into a page template so that they only have to be localized once. As well as reducing cost, this reduces the risk of inconsistency and complications during updates.
                                              • Create a pronunciation guide: In specialized industries, terminology abounds. Pronunciation guidelines ensure consistent pronunciation across courses and voice artists.

We work with all major eLearning applications including the following:

                                              • Articulate Storyline 360

We work with some of the best eLearning translators in the industry. For all localization services we provide; we use multi-step processes, including translation and separate editing. In addition to translation & editing, we recommend pre-project processes including glossary/termbase development. All of our projects go through extensive quality assurance. Andovar incorporates Multidimensional Quality Metrics (MQM) in its workflow. MQM enables client stakeholders to attribute greater weight to key aspects of the translation–including accuracy, fluency, locale, verity and design. Translations pass or fail based on the chosen scoring framework, enabling translations that meet defined specifications to be produced consistently.

Andovar has a large pool of subject-matter experts managed by a dedicated resource management team. We have over 10,000 in-country translators skilled across a wide range of industries.

If you are not satisfied with your translation, we will make any necessary updates until it meets with your approval. All we would require is some written feedback as to why the translation does not meet your expectations for our translators and editors to focus on the key parts.

                                                      Grow your world.
