Bangkok, 7 December 2009 – Andovar has further shown its commitment to building the localization industry in South East Asia through heavy involvement in the first Localization and Translation Thailand conference. In addition to Andovar sponsoring this event, CEO Conor Bracken acted as both a guest speaker and panel member during the two-day conference held Dec 3-4, 2009. The purpose of the Localization and Translation Thailand conference was to provide “a unique opportunity for users of translation, translation technology providers, and workers in the translation industry to compare views and collaborate in order to cultivate the industry and increase business and revenue opportunities,” according to conference organizers. These organizers consisted of ProZ.com, the Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA), National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) and the Royal Institute of Thailand. Andovar CEO, Conor Bracken, served as a panel member for the afternoon session “Enabling LSPs and Translators to Work Better Together” as well as making a presentation highlighting the challenges and opportunities for localization in emerging markets. Bracken pointed out strengths such as the fact that “purchasing power is rising at up to 10% p.a. while developed economies stagnate,” but also illustrated the difficulties faced by LSPs. Ending on a positive note, he emphasized the need for communication stating that “emerging markets need conferences like this one.” For more information on Localization and Translation Thailand, please visit: www.localizationandtranslation.com

Building on the successes of its Bangkok and Singapore offices, Andovar is pleased to announce the opening of a third office in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located in a US-friendly time zone but offering similar cost benefits to Bangkok, the BA branch is designed to complement the production and business development activities of its sister office in Asia.

‘We are tremendously excited about the opening of a new office in Argentina,’ says Aoife Cregan, Managing Director of the Buenos Aires branch. ‘Andovar’s expansion has been rapid and this is a natural step for us. In Buenos Aires we have access to a great pool of cost effective resources but are also well positioned to develop our client base in the US and further afield,’ she says.

With the establishment of the office already underway, Andovar expects the Buenos Aires branch to be up and running in the second quarter of 2010. And life in Buenos Aires? ‘Moving from one exotic location to another is tough, but the prime rib and fine wines make it bearable!’ Cregan says.
